A First
Mason took his first ride in a buggy today without his carseat in the grocery store this morning. Yesterday, Garrett had played golf and softball all on the hottest day of the year and normally on Saturdays, when he can, he sleeps a little later. Jay had woken up at about 6:40 and we made our way down the stairs with Mason in tote. After feeding both of them breakfast, I thought it would be a good time to head to the store. They were having some good deals on a few things and of course I needed bread for next week, so we headed off for the store at 8:00. Garrett could get some sleep and the best time to hit up the store is the morning. Jay wanted the car cart and it was perfect. Although driving it is a pain, they both fit in it. Mason did great for his first time in the cart. He would fall to the side, but I think all in all, it was a great trip.

I love to take advantage of free meals at Chick-fil-a when I can get them. Tonight it worked out perfect when Garrett wasn't home for dinner. Tonight was rodeo night and the kids ate free. Got to love that and especially when Jay really likes their kids meals and will eat most of it. They also had games and a horse drawn carriage. It makes for a quick adventure out and some fun.

What we've been up to...
Just recently, we've been giving Mason table food. He does not have any teeth, but he can gum his way into eating food. He will eat ritz crackers, chips, and other things he won't choke on. His teachers at school have been feeding him pancakes, rice, green beans, peas and other good things. It makes it easier on our wallet of we don't have to buy baby food.
Garrett has also been helping his brother with a patio at his house. It isn't finished yet, but I've included one picture from last night.
While Garrett was gone last night at his brothers house, we walked over to Noah and Seth's house. Jay ended up taking a bath with them. They has loads of fun with each other.
On Sunday we went to Garrett's brother's house for a swim. Jay is enjoying his swim lessons and showed off how he could put his face underwater while he swam. They have a little girl, Carson, that is 6 days older than Mason. She is quite advanced and at 9 months old is getting ready to walk. She has definitely surpassed Mason in size.

Bigger...
So the boys are getting bigger every week. Jay is getting to be an awesome big brother and loves to play with Mason. Today, I found him trying to feed Mason his milk. Jay also surprises us each day. He uses words like enormous and such. We didn't even know he knew big words. It's crazy what kids pick up.
Mason, on the other hand, is growing and developing each day. We missed when Jay was smaller him feeding himself because of his feeding issues. Mason doesn't do well with small things like puffs and Cheerios, but he is able to feed himself the pin wheels and ritz crackers. Although, it is messy which we don't care for, it's fun to feed him things and let him use his hands. We are waiting for the day he starts crawling. He can seem to figure out how to put his knees under him and get in position to crawl. I think he will be crawling in the next month. It is exciting to think about it. I know, we don't want him going everywhere in the house, but what it means for Mason is that he is developing and gaining strength.
On a side note and for those following Mason's development, we go back for a hearing test in a week. Hopefully we will confirm if he has a mild hearing loss or not in the left ear, if he will cooperate.

We've got a fish
Today was Jay's first day of swim lessons at the Little Otter. It is especially made for little kids. Jay was siked up and ready to go when I picked him up from school. The place is set up where the pool is within a glass wall and really warm inside. All the parents and visitors sit outside the glass and can watch all the kids in the water. Jay only had one other kid in his class today, but you could tell he had been in the class for a while. Ms. Tori is his teacher and he seemed to like her. She taught them about putting their face in the water and swimming back and forth from a platform to the step. Jay wasn't scared a bit. At the end of the lesson, all the kids get to go down a slide. It must have been the highlight of the lesson because Jay was upset that he wasn't able to go down the slide a second time. We are glad he had a good time and can't wait until next Tuesday.
Bummer
So the most of my summer will be spent in a boot. Last Monday, I had gone downstairs in the middle of the night, it was dark and I wasn't wearing glasses. I missed the bottom step and broke the 5th metatarsal in my foot (the bone connected to the little toe) in two places. I get to wear a lovely boot for the next 5 weeks and hopefully it will heal. No heels for a while.

Around...
We're around and having fun. Nothing much has been happening around here except the usual business trip for Garrett every so often and the kids being sick off and on. We are good now and everyone is well; crossing my fingers. Today I ventured out with the kids to Concord Mills. This is probably the first time I've taken both of them by myself to the mall. Overall, the trip wasn't bad. I had to take back a few items and also stopped by Children's Place. Jay insisted that Mason needed a Super Mario shirt just like his. So he talked me into buying it. It is kind of cute that he wants his little brother to look just like him.
There has been a couple of times that I've found it easier to put both of them in the big tub together to take a bath. I think both the boys enjoyed playing with one another. Some how, Jay puts a smile on Mason's face every time.
